<description>Perbedaan Jumlah Osteoblas pada Pergerakan Gigi Ortodonti yang Diberi Terapi Oksigen Hiperbarik Selama 7 dan 10 Hari
Ramadhani, Fakhma Zakki; Brahmanta, Arya; Rahardjo, Pambudi
Background: Orthodontic force would inhibit periodontal ligament vascularization and blood flow, causing biochemical and cellular changes as well as changes in the contour of the alveolar bone. HBO is beneficial because it stimulates the growth of new blood vessels and result in a substantial increase in tissue oxygenation. Purpose: To determine the effects of Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) 7 and 10 days in increase of osteoblastic activity on bone remodelling during orthodontic tooth movement. Materials &#13;
and Methods: This study was conducted using a post test only control group design program. Thirty two male adult Cavia cobaya were randomly divided into four groups. Negative group (n=8), positive group (n=8), HBO 7 days was administered in first group (n=8), and HBO 10 days was administered in second group (n=8). The maxillary incisors were moved distally by means of elastic separator in third groups (Positive, HBO 7 and HBO 10 days). Data on the number of cells were analyzed by One-way ANOVA and LSD statistical test. Result: The data show that the number of cells increased in all &#13;
treatment groups. The highest cell counts began in the group treated with HBO 7 days (14.571) and the group treated with HBO 10 days (18.166). However, there is no mean between the number of osteoblasts HBO 7 days and HBO 10 days (p 0.559). Conclusion: HBO therapy 7 days effective to increase of osteoblast number on bone remodelling during orthodontic tooth movement.

Background: Orthodontic treatment on the bimaxillary dental protrusion is to reduce the&#13;
proclination of the mandibular and maxillary anterior teeth. Lost of posterior teeth (free end) often occured in adult cases and required additional skeletal anchorage. Purpose: Mini screw implant orthodontic as temporary anchorage devices is indicated to help this movement without worried about loss anchorage. Case: In this case report, a woman, 38 years old presented class I malocclusion with bimaxillary dental protrusion and free end mandibular posterior teeth. Case Management: The patient was treated using standart edgewise orthodontic appliance with mini screw implant as temporary anchorage devices. Conclusion: The result of this treatment indicated that mini screw can be consider an effective therapy choice

<description>SITOTOKSISITAS EKSTRAK BIJI JINTEN HITAM (NIGELLA SATIVA) SEBAGAI BAHAN IRIGASI SALURAN AKAR
Rochyani, Linda
Background : Along with the raise of economical level of the society, dental health awareness is also raised significantly. As dental science developed, teeth extraction is no longer a solution of injured teeth as long as it has solid supported tissue. Non vital teeth or necrotic teeth can be treated by  endodontic root canal treatment by removing the pulp tissue both in pulp chamber and pulp canal. Cleaning and shaping are important stages in endodontic treatment. Irigation is needed in those stages to clean the canal from residual nectrotic tissue, dentin particles, microorganism and as irrigation to smooth the root canal preparation. It should be done because root canal preparation without irrigation will cause 70% residual debris in apical and wall of root canal. Irrigation solution spuld meet proper ctiteria that it should has antibacterial properties, dissolve the necrotic tissues, cleanse the debris in root canal and not toxic to periradicular tissue. Jinten  hitam (Nigella sativa) seed extract has been used to be traditional herbs which has antibacterial effect. &#13;
Purpose : The aim of this study is to examine the cytotoxicity of Jinten  hitam (Nigella sativa) seed extract as root canal tooth irrigation. &#13;
Material and Methods : Samples in cytotoxicity test were fibroblast cell (BHK-21) with culture test methods, treated by giving Jinten  hitam seed extract in various concentration. Samples were divided into 5 groups, which were  group 1 with concentration of  0,2 gr/ml, group 2 :  0,1 gr/ml, group 3 :  0,05 gr/ml, group 4 :  0,025 gr/ml, group 5 :control. MTT were added after 3 minutes, followed by incubation for 4 hours. DMSO solution were added, shaked, ten were examined by Elisa reaader in wave length of 630. Cytotoxicity were stated by examined the viable cells, when more then 60% were viable, it stated as non toxic. Result. Data were analyzed by non parametric test (Kruskal-Wallis Test). &#13;
Result :  showed 0.00 (p&lt;0.005) means that no significance difference in cytotoxicity of various concentration of jinten hitam seed extract. Conclusion : There were no cytotoxicity effect of jinten hitam seed extract on concentration of 0.2 gr/ml, 0.1 gr/ml, 0.05 gr/ml dan 0.025 gr/ml. &#13;
Conclusion : Jinten hitam seed extract has proved to have no cytotoxicity effect as root canal tooth irrigation solution, it could be considered as alternative irrigation material in root canal tooth irrigation.

Background: Untreated caries will continue and microorganisms enter the pulp resulting in&#13;
an inflammatory response and pulp necrosis. Sterilization is one part of root canal treatment&#13;
and is important for the success of root canal treatment. Stolephorus insularis contains&#13;
antibacterial substances such as fluor. Previous research showed that extract Stolephorus&#13;
insularis has antibacterial activity in Streptococcus mutans bacteria. Purpose: This study aims&#13;
to determine the antibacterial power of Stolephorus insularis extract on the growth of&#13;
Staphylococcus aereus bacteria by using 3 concentrations of 18%, 24% and 30%. Material and&#13;
Method: This resesarch use culture of Staphylococcus aereus bacteria in MH blood agar,&#13;
Stolephorus insularis extract with various concentrations (18%, 24%, 30%), 7% Na CMC, 1%&#13;
DMSO solution, agar BHI media. Culture of Staphylococcus aereus was taken from liquid BHI&#13;
media, then rubbed on the entire surface of BHI media using a sterile cotton stick. The&#13;
antibacterial zone formed is measured. Result: Based on the results of the Mann-Whitney test&#13;
there were significant differences in the inhibitory power of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria (p&#13;
&lt;0.05) in the K + group with groups K-, P1, P2 and P3. Whereas between groups P1 with K-,&#13;
group P2 with K- and P1, and group P3 with K-, P1 and P2 there were no significant differences&#13;
because the significant value was greater than 0.05. Conclusion: There is no antimicrobial&#13;
power at concentrations of 18%, 24%, and 30%. Quantitative research needs to be done to&#13;
determine the decrease in the number of bacterial colonies.

<description>Nonsurgical Endodontic Retreatment of Maxillary First Premolar
Background : There are some factors can cause endodontic failure such as inadequate in cleaning or shaping step, non hermetic obturation, or poor restoration, which can cause bacteria multiply. Purpose : To report the management of endodontic failure with nonsurgical treatment. Case : 46-year-old woman came to Airlangga Dental Hospital Conservative Dentistry Department to treat her upper right tooth which show symptomatic pain in the last 2 weeks. The tooth has been treated and crowned with porcelain fused to metal about 10 years ago. Clinical examination show the presence of fistula on premolar buccal gingiva, react to percussion. Radiographic examination show not hermetic obturation in one root canal and radiolucency in the periapical area. The diagnosis for maxillary first premolar is previously treated tooth with chronic periapical abscess.. Treatment : Crown and post was removed from the tooth, and endodontic retreatment was done. Follow up 6 months after the retreatment show no reaction to percussion, and radiographic examination show no enlargement periapical lesion. Conclusion : Nonsurgical endodontic retreatment always become the first choice to resolve endodontic failure for previously treated tooth.

<title>Aesthetic Treatment In Patient With Fractures Of Maxillary Central Incisor Teeth</title>
<link>http://dspace.hangtuah.ac.id:8080/xmlui/handle/dx/887</link>
<description>Aesthetic Treatment In Patient With Fractures Of Maxillary Central Incisor Teeth
A common objective of anterior restorative dentistry is to establish anterior guidance between the maxillary and mandibular anterior teeth to disclude the posterior teeth during protrusive mandibular movement. Fracture anterior teeth leads to psychological trauma, along with functional and esthetic debilitations. Healthy anterior teeth play an important role of protecting the posterior teeth during excursive mandibular movement. The contour and shape of the labial surface are important for esthetic purpose; the palatal surface morphology is critical for harmonious function. Premature contact in palatal surface restoration is considered as contributing factor to temporomandibular disorder (TMD) symptoms. Purpose : Improve aesthetics and function of the patient's anterior teeth. Case : Male, 17 years old with poor aesthetic because of fracture anterior teeth 4 years ago. Case Management : Root canal treatment, treatment of root resorption, fiber post, custom post, indirect veener, zirconia crown and enameloplasty. Result : Better aesthetic and get the optimum function of his teeth.

<link>http://dspace.hangtuah.ac.id:8080/xmlui/handle/dx/876</link>
<description>The Use of Lip Bumper in Lip Sucking Tretament
Emilda, Yulie
Background: Oral habits include habit which are continuously done and has the potential to cause defects on teeth and perioral tissues.Lip sucking or biting habits are often found&#13;
simultaneously or as a substitution of finger sucking. This habit may affect the labial and&#13;
perioral structures. The habit may take several forms. Two extreme types are mild wetting of the lips with the tongue and pulling the lips into the mouth between the teeth. The lip bumper is a functional device that is used successfully to intercept developing dental and occlusal problems by allowing a proper development of the arch length and width for eruption of the permanent teeth.Purpose: This study aimed to re-validate the effectiveness of lip bumper application and habitual therapy in treating the bad habit of lip sucking. Case Report: The mother of a 9-year old girl reported an upper front teeth protrusion and frequent occurrence of mouth ulcer. Further examination revealed that the patient had a habit of lip sucking. Case Management: Removable Lip Bumper is used to control lip habits such as lip sucking and to improve mentalis muscle hyperactivity. Such habit was treated with the use of a removable lip bumper and habitual therapy conducted by both parents. Constants reminder and encouragement from the parent to wear the lip bumper is one of the key success factors in this treatment. Conclusion: Five months after the initial application of a lip bumper and habitual therapy, the patient overcame the habit of lip sucking.

<title>The increase of VEGF expressions and new blood vessels formation in Wistar rats induced with post-tooth extraction sponge amnion</title>
<link>http://dspace.hangtuah.ac.id:8080/xmlui/handle/dx/694</link>
<description>The increase of VEGF expressions and new blood vessels formation in Wistar rats induced with post-tooth extraction sponge amnion
Rizal, Moh. Basroni; Munadziroh, Elly; Kriswandini, Indah Listiana
Background: Tooth extraction is the process of removing a tooth from the oral cavity potentially triggering a wound healing&#13;
response in the body. As a result, many methods have been applied to improve the wound healing process, especially in wounds resulting&#13;
in complications. One such method involves the application of amniotic membrane which has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, antifibrosis,&#13;
anti-scarring properties with low immunogenicity, epithelialization effects, and secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor (SLPI).&#13;
it also contains collagen, various growth factors, transferrin, fibronectin, nidogen, proteoglycans, hyaluronan and laminin. Purpose:&#13;
This study aimed to determine the effects of sponge amnion on the number of VEGF expressions and new blood vessels in post-tooth&#13;
extraction wounds of Wistar rats. Methods: Sponge amnion was produced by mixing freeze-dried amnion membrane from the Tissue&#13;
Bank at RSUD Dr. Soetomo with 1% gelatin before freeze drying the mixture. Wistar rats were then divided into two groups. In Group&#13;
1, referred to as the control group, the post-extraction wounds of the rats received no treatment. Meanwhile, in Group 2, the treatment&#13;
group, the subjects’ post-extraction wounds were treated with sponge amnion. The rats of both groups were sacrificed on day 3 to&#13;
allow observation of the number of VEGF expressions and new blood vessels. A statistical analysis test, a t-test, was subsequently&#13;
conducted. Results: There was a significant difference in the number of new blood vessels in the control group and that of the treatment&#13;
group with a p value of 0.018 (p&lt;0.05). There was also a significant difference in VEGF expression between the two groups with a&#13;
p value of 0.000 (p &lt;0.05). Conclusion: Sponge amnion can generate a number of VEGF expressions and new blood vessels in the&#13;
post-extraction wounds of Wistar rats.
