Perbedaan efek pemutihan gigi dari stroberi murni dan campuran stroberi dengan baking soda Aprilia, Aprilia; Prawitasari, Putri Galuh Background. most patients complained about the cost, the methods that they think complicated, even the time they had to provide to get the teeth whitening treatment. Aim. To evaluate the effectivity of strawberry as teeth whitening, and also to make comparison between pure strawberry and strawberry mixed with baking soda as tooth whitening. Material and methods. this in vitro experiments using 12 sampel of extracted front maxilla teeth. Prior to experimental use, the teeth were examined for the absence of caries, or other surface defects. The 12 sampels than numerized each consecutively before it begun their first visual assessment of colour stage using the shade guide. Teeth staining using the tea solutions were done after, for 3 days in a row the 12 sampels were put inside a jar contained tea solutions. This way of acting was done to simulate the teeth conditions after tea consuming for several moments. All sampels than having their second visual assessments of colour, this thing was done right after the teeth were out from the jar for 3 days teeth staining. Stand on the aim of this experiment, there are needed 2 groups of treatments to compare one to another, therefore, one dozen of the sampels were than devided into 2 groups, the first group was bleached by rubbing pure smashed strawberry three times a day for 5 days, after having their treatments, all sampels were than soaked in the artificial saliva. As in the first group, the second group were having the same methods of bleaching treatments, yet in this groups, the strawberry were mixed with baking soda. After all those 8 days of treatments, every sampels had their one last visual assessments to make both of the treatments comparison. The statistic analysis was done to compare both of the treatments effectivity. RGB (Red Green Blue) measurements from the adobe photoshop computerized programme were done as the second opinion. Results. Strawberry and baking soda could produce a whiter teeth, or at least, the shade guide visual assessments revealed that the teeth colour increased maximally one level. Conclusions. There are no effectivity differences between 2 ingredients used in this experiments.

One of the root canal treatment stage is irrigation of root canal. Some studies reported that ozone water made from ozone generator has antibacterial activities against certain microorganism. In this study, ozone water, which is containing a lot of O3 has been explored as the antibacterial agent. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the antibacterial effect of ozone water to the growth of necrosis root canal bacterial. Material and Method: Antimicrobial effect of ozone water in various concentration ( 0,1 ppm; 0,3 ppm; 0,6 ppm; 1 ppm ) to the growth of necrosis root canal bacteria were tested by dilution method in BHI broth, incubated anaerobically at 37°C for 24 hour. On the consecutive day, each treatment group along with positive and negative control group then continued to be inoculated in BHI agar by poured method and incubated anaerobically at 37°C for 24. The viable colony appeared were counted, stated in CFU/ml. Result: Data were analyzed with ANOVA (one way) test and result showed the significant difference (p< 0.05) between all groups. LSD showed significant difference between group 0,3 ppm and 0,6 ppm. But no significant difference between group 0,1 ppm-0,3 ppm and 0,6 ppm-1ppm. Conclusion: Ozone water has the antibacterial effect to the growth of necrosis root canal bacteria. The recommended concentration is 0,6 ppm.

It was nanofiller resin composite. It is said that with the leading nanotechnology, we can get both the strength of a hybrid and the beautiful, lasting polish of a microfiller in one product. The aim of this study was to compare the diametral tensile strength of a hybrid resin composite with the newest nanofiller resin composite. This experimental study was held in laboratory with two (2) group of hybrid and nanofiller resin composite. Each group consist of ten (10) samples. After that, each sample was pressed with an autograph to measure its diametral tensile strength. All of datas in this study were analyzed using independent t-test. And the result of this study showed that nanofiller resin composite possess higher diametral tensile strength than hybrid resin composite.

In the ancient time people used to put jewel in their teeth know as inlay. Recently, the kind of teeth art came out by the high demand of patients came to dentist for teeth aesthetic. Method : The study was performed by giving the questionnaire to the lectures of Faculty of Dentistry Hang Tuah University who performed private practice about the diamond inlay installatio on their patients. Result: Diamond inlay on teeth as a kind of aesthetic dentistry came out based on trend which had happened in the ancient time. All respondents prefer to put on the diamond on antherior teeth in order to be easily noticeable. Conclusion : Behavioural events of diamond inlay in the past re emerge in the recent time in the same or other place.

TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN BAKTERI Enterococcus faecalis Hidayatullah, Ahmad Syarifuddin; Aprilia, Aprilia Background : Enterococcus faecalis is one of bacterial species in endodontic infections and commonly found in endodontic treatment failure. Extracts of leaf tamarind (Tamarindus indica Linn) has been reported to have antibacterial effects for gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, so could be potentially developed as root canal sterilization agent. Purpose : Aim of this study was to determine inhibitory effect of tamarind extract to growth of Enterococcus faecalis. Methods : This study was an experimental study with post test only control group design and were tested by diffusion methods with 2 controls groups DMSO 1% as negative control, and ChKM as positive control and 4 groups concentration extracts of leaf tamarind one of each 3,125 mg/ml, 6,25 mg/ml, 12,5 mg/m and, 25 mg/ml, each group consisted of 8 samples. Inhibition effect were examined by measure diameter of clear zone around disc containing leaf extract of tamarind. Data were analyzed by statistic test. Results : Results showed that there were clear zone around disc containing leaf extract of tamarind, greater concentration of the extract greater diameter of the clear zone. Mean of inhibition zone at concentrations of 3,125 mg/ml (7,55 mm), 6,25 mg/ml (8,12 mm), 12,5 mg/ml (8,42 mm), 25 mg/ml (8,84 mm) for negative control DMSO 1 % (6.03 mm) and positive control ChKM (25.39 mm). It had been proved that leaf extract of tamarind could inhibit the growth of E. faecalis (p<0,05). Conclution : Tamarind (Tamarindus indica Linn) leaf extract could inhibit the growth of Enterococcus faecalis at all concentrations.
