Abstract:
Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF)
is still a serious problem. It can be seen
from the high incidence rate, especially in
tropical and subtropical countries. In this
study, researcher focus on Container factor
especially from its color, dark and bright, as
one of existence factor of Aedes aegypti
larvae. Container is a place for saving our
water that is used in our daily life, where
this container can be used Aedes aegypti for
hatching their eggs and growing up as
larvae and mosquito which is a vector of
DHF. This study investigated the
differences between the mean number of
Aedes aegypti larvae in the dark container
and bright container.
The method that is used in this study
is observational analytic with cross sectional design. Samples in this study are
taken from 100 respondents’ houses in the
Tambak Cemandi Village, Sedati, Sidoarjo,
on may until august 2016.
In descriptions, the result showed
that in dark containers the number of Aedes
aegypti larvae is higher than in dark colored
containers. By using Mann-Whitney U
statistic test, the result of this study also
showed a significant result that there is
difference of mean number of Aedes
aegypti larvae on dark colored container
and light colored container where P = 0.001
(P <α = 0,05).
So, there is different between the
mean number of Aedes aegypti larvae in the
dark container and bright container in
Tambak Cemandi Village, Sedati, Sidoarjo,
which dark container has higher mean
number of Aedes aegypti larvae than bright
container.
